i've tried to delete my history by doing the following:

explorer>preferences>web browser>advanced>clear history>ok

however, addresses i have visited still pop up in the address field
when i begin to type in a new address.  is there something else i need
to do?

i've tried to delete my history by doing the following:

explorer>preferences>receiving files>cookies>selecting all
cookies>delete>ok

however, if i close and open the preferences window the cookies are
still there?  is there something else i need to do?

can i delete the history and cookies manually?  for all i know the
cache isn't being empited when i empty it either.  is there a way to
check the cache or manually empty it?

please help.

thanks

I have the same problem.  I got around this by going to download.com
and getting a program called CookieMuncher.  This program attacks the
cookies from places I am unaware of.  This method has worked well for
me in the past until today.

After using the program to delete my cookies, I now cannot access my
IE5.2.3 preferences.  When I try, I get the system busy color wheel
and IE freezes.  IE is fine otherwise, but I cannot touch the prefs.
I tried deleting IE and reinstalling, but this did not solve the
problem.

Now I need help to get IE prefs working again.

Go MACINTOSH HD>USERS>yourname>LIBRARY>PREFERENCES> and find:
com.apple.internetconfig.plist

Delete this file.  It will destroy all your cookies, but it will also
delete all your IE prefs.  If you don't really customize your IE, this
is your best shot.  It also allowed me to get back my ability to
change my prefs (its like a reset button).

Hope that helps.
