I have recently upgraded to Mac OS X and am using Explorer 5.2.  When
I delete cookies, they do not stay deleted!  There they are the very
next time I look!   Also, when I set autocomplete forms, my info is
not saved.  I have to re-enter everytime!  Help???

I have the same problem PLUS Explorer will not allow me to change the
cookie setting, i.e. from decline to accept - so i have had to chnage
to different browser to even be able to post this message.

In addition to Harri's advice, be sure other applications (especially
Entourage and internet applications) are closed when you launch Internet
Explorer and make the preference changes.  Wait until you quit Internet
Explorer to re-launch them.

In the last month or so, my cookies don't work on most site that they have
worked on for a year or 2.  Preferences are set to accept all, but when I go
to websites, I must log in every time.  Don't understand what changed?  Any
thoughts?

Try keeping Entourage and other internet applications closed when you browse
with Internet Explorer.  Other than switching to another browser, I know of
no workaround.

Mickey,

Thanks.  I see what you mean.  Hopefully and update will be forthcoming, but
I'm not holding my breath.  I'll probably look into changing browsers.

I was thinking more along the lines of an update to Entourage, so that it
wouldn't have that effect on IE.  As far as I'm aware, I only have my
browser (IE) and Entourage hooked up to the internet.  Others may have a
different setup.

I have been experiencing this dreaded problem for months and
completely lost in what was causing these problems

I have deleted everything related to IE off of my OSX computer.  But
after tinkering some more today, I found that deleting the "Carbon
Registration Database" file off of the computer, I was able to save my
new info and keep the new reentered password, user, etc settings.
Nothing else seem affected and my cookies are now back to normal.

Do a search for that file - or you can go to:
<your user> --> Library -->Preferences --> Microsoft ---> Carbon
Registration Database

if it corrects your problem, please post a follow up so that I know it
help your situation out and it wasn't just a fluke fix.
