i'm ready to throw this thing across the room. i can't for the life of
me get this machine to save mp3 and other music files to disk. i get
mailed a lot of links to mp3's and i'm unable to save any of them.

first, since i use entourage, there is no option to "download link to
disk" (by the way, if anyone knows the way to "download link to disk"
in entourage i'd be much obliged to hear it.) so, frustrated, i went
into my explorer preferences to tell the file helpers to "save to
disk" when clicked on an mp3 instead of "view with plugin". i did this
for ALL the mp3 file helpers, not just one. i got it working, but it
returns back to the default settings the minute i close explorer.

is there anything i'm missing? i made sure to hit "change" in the file
helper and not just to double click on the helper i wanted to change.
(although i tried that, too.) i also downloaded windows media player
and real player to try to open the file in that, then save it to disk.
i tried to save the file in quicktime after it had downloaded and
started playing, but after i save it (as a quicktime movie, becuase
that's the only file format it will let me save in) it won't open from
the "saved" file. i also tried appending a ".mp3" to the file name,
but no dice.

what the hell? i'd like to think i'm not completely incompetent, but
i'm about ready to break this computer and start bashing microsoft.

please, please, please, save my sanity!
