ok, i have an older 190cs (dont laugh, i know its a legacy product and slow but...) i am currently running os 8.1 and have
68LC040 processor. when i did a fresh clean install of os8.1 i got microsoft ie 3.1. it works but its lame. i have a windows machine and am running ie 5.0 with windows 95. i like that version of ie much better than 3.1.  i have tried to update to ie5.1 but it wont run because it requires a power PC. someone told me i could run ie5.0. after downloading it and opening the read me doc it stated under system requirements that it requirs a power pc as well (unfortunately i had to actually download ie5.0 before i could access the readme file and find out i have a compatibility problem.) i have been to planet mirror and evolt.com but they dont offer system requirement read mes before downloading. my questions are
1) does anyone know of a site that offers system requirements /compatibility info for previous software version ond older macs
2) what  is the newest version of ie can i upgrade to that is compatable with 68k processors
3) where can i download it
4)what is the newest version of outlook express can i run with a 68k machine
5) where can i download it
6) what is the newest version of accrobat reader i can run on my 68k machine and where can i download it
7) finally, should i uninstall any previous versions of these programs after i install newer versions? dont have a big hard drive and coud use the space. how do i uninstall ie3.1? there is no uninstaller provided
any help on any or all of my questions woud be greatfully appreciate
thank
michael

Outlook Express 4.0 68K
http://filedudes.siol.net/mac/email/files/olook68k.hqx

MSIE 4.01
http://msdl.microsoft.com/msdownload/ie401/rtw/mac/en/ie401f68.bin

Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.02
http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobatreader/mac/3.x/ar302.bin

just trash the older browser and search for the preferences in the system
folder and trash them and empty the trash  (it's that simple)

    harr
thanks for your help.  Randall, maybe you didnt really take the time to read my original message before you just logged on and started to type insults.  In my original message i was the first to admit that i was fully aware of the age and limitations of my old 190 68k machine. i logged on to this site for help which harri provided. harri you are right, the machine is not obsolete. its an old machine i can donate to a young kid on my block who would otherwise have no computer at all. just wanted to make it as nice as i could before i did that. thanks harri for understanding that not everyone needs to be on the newest greatest thing, some people are actually happy to have anything at all. and at the same time he could learn some basic chops on a mac. including email. thanks again harri and i am not even going to take the time to reply to randall. his horse is apparently way too high for me to reach. perhaps he will read this response and to quote him "get a clue
thanks again, michae
