I am a new mac user.  Every time I click on a web link I cannot get
the link to open in my current window.  I want to be able to double
click on a web link while surfing and NOT have 50 windows open.  Tried
changing preferences, tried using ie help to no avail.  Please advise.

There are several ways to open a link in a new window (shown below).  Make
sure you aren't using one of them.  Is it possible that you are doing a
command-click?  Meaning holding down the command (Apple) key while
clikcing the link?  That will open up the link in a new window.  Other than
that, I've not seen your issue.

If you have a 2 button mouse, use the right button to select "Open in New
window."

If you have a one button mouse (Apple really needs to get with the program
here), then you have multiple options:

1.) If you command-click on the link, you open it in a new window (the
command button is the one with the Apple symbol on it).

2.) If you control-click, you will bring up a pop-up menu with the choice to
do whatever.... (this is the same as the right mouse button).

3.) If you click on the link and don't let go of the mouse button (click and
hold), after a second or so, the pop-up menu will pop up and you can then
select "open page in new window"
