Hey guys, thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
I never had a problem with IE until yesterday when all of a sudden it
started quiting on opening. I had not done anything exceptional with
it (that is, no upgrades, no crashes, no recent downloads) and it was
working fine earlier in the day.
It just stopped working. I downloaded the latest version upgrade,
which I was already using, but I thought, hey, why not try
reinstalling it.
I've run Norton Utilities on the disk, and no problems there. I tried
deleting all the files I could find from IE and starting again with a
clean install, but I keep getting the "Upgrade" button on the
installer.
I have a crash log for the last two times I tried to start the
programme, and include it below. Is this an IE problem, or a system
problem? Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.
TIA
Allan

Drag Macintosh HD/Users/<Problematic
User>/Library/Preferences/com.apple.internetconfig.plist and
com.microsoft.explorer.plist to the Desktop. Re-launch Internet Explorer
and see if it crashes. If it still crashes, move the Internet Preferences
files back. If the problem is fixed, you can trash the Internet Preferences
files.
If that doesn't help, try moving the Macintosh HD/Users/<Your
User>/Library/Preferences/Explorer to the Desktop and see if that helps. If
so, drag the "Favorites.html" file into the new Explorer folder within the
Preferences folder, and delete the rest. If it still crashes, move the
folder back.
Make sure you have the latest OS version. Check Software Update for that as
well as Internet Explorer updates (the latest for OS X is 5.2.3).
If that doesn't help, try repairing permissions.
For OS 10.2/10.3:
Go to Macintosh HD/Applications/Utilities. Open up Disk Utility. Select
your hard disk, then click the First Aid tab. Click the button to "Repair
Disk Permissions".
Run Disk First Aid. Instructions on how to run it in OS X are located on
the Apple Knowledge Base.
<http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214>
You might also want to try deleting HD/Users/<Your User>/Library/Caches/MS
Internet Cache.
