How can I set IE so that my dail-up connect is terminated when I close
IE (or Outlook Express)? Also is there a way I can disconnect with IE
open (besides going through the Mac 'Remote Access' control panel)?
Thanks,

There is no autodisconnect feature built into IE.  You will need to
disconnect manually.  The quickest method of disconnection is to use the
Remote Access Control Strip Module, usually in the bottom-left of your
screen.
