Look again. Open your Hard Drive, then go to HD/Users/<Your User>. From
their (your Home), navigate to Library/Preferences, and test to see if
com.apple.internetconfig.plist is corrupt.

I have the same problem, IE was quitting on startup, all of the
sudden.
So I downlowded 5.2.3, still the same problem. Then I upgraded
OS10.3 Panther, still same problem, IE quits on startup.
Now Netscape 7.1 quits intermittently with Panther.
I have deleted the internetconfig.plist file and started the browser.
IE still quits and a new internetconfig.plist file has been created.
I have no idea what to do. No info is available from Apple and I see
others in forums with same problem but no solution yet.
Help! And Thanks!

What about killing these files...?
~/Library/Caches/MS Internet Cache
~/Library/Preferences/Explorer/History.html
~/Library/Preferences/LSApplications
~/Library/Preferences/LSClaimedTypes
~/Library/Preferences/LSSchemes
In addition, have you run the Disk Utility application to repair your HD and
update any permissions issues?
I'm interested in resolving these IE issues - I certainly need to know of
any specific issues that arise around using IE on Panther.

I had the same problem, sorted mine by changing my DHCP settings under
"built in ethernet" from "Using DHCP with Manual ip address" to just "Using
DHCP" not sure how this affects things but that¹s the only change I made and
it now works :)

Hate to sound like a broken record, but I have the same problem with
IE AND Entourage X (when it attempts to load HTML e-mail messages it
quits "unexpectedly"). I've done a search on my iBook for
com.apple.internetconfig.plist file and it doesn't even exist on my
computer. I noticed this problem with IE & Entourage right after I
loaded Safari on my Mac. Half-thinking it's Microsoft's way of
punishing me for using Apple's browser.
