IE 5.1.7 Failure to Launch on MAC OS8.5

I have the same problem as kordel95 as he outlined in his post of Oct.
28. I downloaded IE 5.1.7, installed it, but it will not launch. I
operate on an IMac with OS 8.5

I tried his solution of changing the home page in the Internet Control
Panel, but did not work for me. IE 5.1.7 still will not launch.

Can anyone out there recommend something else that I can try?

Did you try to delete the following...?

Mac HD:System Folder:Preferences:Internet Preferences
Mac HD:System Folder:Preferences:Explorer:History.html
Mac HD:System Folder:Preferences:PPC Registration Database
Mac HD:System Folder:Preferences:MS Internet Cache:
