IE7 on Vista, UAC off, Ethernet to Linksys phone adapter to Comcast.
I don't know whether Vista SP1 is installed and I am not now at the PC.
IE7 cannot access web pages by name. Access by IP works fine. General DNS
issue? No, Firefox has no problem, email connects, software updates connect.
Everything is great except IE7 and programs that use it like WMP. Does IE
use some alternative DNS?
I don't remember exactly but I think running diags from the error screen
reported a "problem that could not be fixed..." and running diags from the
Network Center was ok? Tried resetting winsock with netsh. Looked for
policy settings in the registry but don't really know where all to look. IE
security in all zones is on default, Parental Control and Content Advisor are
disabled. Hosts file has no additional content. Only using Windows
Firewall. Reset IE, reset completed but didn't fix the problem.
Any help is appreciated, thank you!

You're in the wrong newsgroup.
This is the group for the Mac version of IE. You should repost in one of
the regular IE groups.

Oops, sorry. That's what I get for posting thru MS's site, couldn't even see
the group name.

Yeah, the MS site is really confusing.
MS simply mirrors the regular Microsoft newsgroups. I access them with a
usenet client application, other users through Google groups, but the MS
site really makes things tricky and sends people to all the wrong places
:-(
