a zip file it  changes to efw format. I am using IE7 and windows XP SP2. Can

Hum... this is the group for the Mac version of IE. You might want to
report in one of the regular groups for IE.

Please, change the file extention to .zip or .exe and try to open the file.

Good luck.

Thanks guys.
How do I change file extentions? Sorry if it is a very basic thing. Thanks
in advance.

Select the name in the finder and wait until the whole name is
highlighted. Changing the extension won;t do you much good on a Mac
though since the compacted file most probably isn't for a Mac.

If the file is .exe and you are on a Mac, then you might be out of luck.
.exe is an extenion or Windows applications.

To change the extension of a file, simply select the name in the Finder
and over-type whatever you want. For file extensions, you typically get
a warning before the change is applied.

Not sure it would help much here though,

Nope, you simply click the name, wait a second, and change the
extension,

This group is <microsoft.public.mac.explorer>
You might try asking the question on a non-Mac group...

<microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6.browser>
Don't ask why this is so obscure!
