Still using IE 5.5, update refuses to download.

About three quarters the way through the update download it quits, and has a
message to restart the computer. Restarting has never worked, even when I
shut down, unplug, wait a couple hours, and restart. Can anyone help?

I would suspect a corrupted download cache. You can try using a
different browser to download the update.
I'm curious though: where did you find an update for IE for Mac??
The MacTopia site doesn't list anything anymore,
