This group would be dead if PC users didn't write about their issues and
Randall didn't reply. There's nothing else in this group: only PC users
posts and Randall's funny pricky comments :)

Anybody knows if Microsoft is going to port any of the further IE
versions on Mac?

The minute that Apple announced Safari, IE for the Mac died.

It's logical for this group to be dying... those still using IE have
learned to live with its shortcomings or they've moved on to other
browser technology

I'm not a techno-prophet, but I don't see Microsoft bringing IE back to
the Mac world. On their remaining IE page on Mactopia, they suggest that
former IE users move on to other browsing technology. Sounds pretty firm
to me that they have no intention of bringing it back.

Besides, if the recent posts from Windows users regarding IE 7 are any
indication, I'm not sure how many Mac users would put up with the
glitches before moving on to another browser that works 99%+ of the time.

:)

You don't have to be a techno-prophet. MS has officially announced that
they were giving up on IE for Mac. There will not be any new version of
IE for us (or WMP for that matter).
The application is offically dead on our platform.

I still have IE on my Mac and I use it from time to time. It's the only
browser we have that has *some* Active-X support. Some site require
Active-X and that's why I kept IE. IE is not my default browser though,
OmniWeb is.

There are ActiveX enabling add-ons for FireFox, but they don't run on
MacOS X.

That's interesting that you have found some success with IE for Mac's
ActiveX support. The web sites requiring ActiveX support that I frequent
seem not to work with the limited support in IE for Mac. Perhaps, like
Windows Media, there are different versions of ActiveX (I'm not a web
developer, so I know little on these type of things).

I did try some of those Firefox ActiveX add-ons, but like the IE for Mac
support, they didn't work on the sites I visit. Oh well, there's always
VPC...

i dont; know about different versions of ActiveX, but I know that IE for
Mac only supports a limited subset of activeX. The site you are trying
to use might simply use unsupported commands :-\
