IE 5.1 for MAC not fully loading pages

I am using OS 9.2, IE for MAC 5.1.2
On certain sites pages do not load fully once I go beyond the home
page. I will get a frame or "top masthead logo", but no content. It
seems to happen now on some pages I used to be able to access- like the
shopping cart and check out of half.com for instance.
It happens on microsoft.com, the help page for att.net, the user
section of the kaiser perm. site. When I have checked with some of
these companies, they claim that their sites ARE IE compatible.
I have had page refresh issues with sites like blogspot, which I have
eliminated by deleting cookies for the problem site. But the 'blank
frame' issue is not resolved by that.
This morning I was unable to use half.com- my cart page was a blank
frame. I tried deleted  all half and ebay cookies. I also tried dumping
my IE and MS cache files from my preferences but it didn't help.
Please advise!

So sorry to hear you are on OS 9. It's possible you'll have a better
browsing experience with Netscape 7.0x. Download the Mac PowerPC version
from the below site at Netscape. It was the last version of netscape to work
on OS 9. It is far better than IE's final releaase and may carry you through
until you move to OS X.

2 points.

First, when a site says it supports IE, they mean Windows IE, not MacIE -
they are different animals.

Second, I have had the same problem.  I think it was a bad preferences file,
but I do not remember.  I just kept deleting files until it worked.

Note- I suggest you save off a copy before you delete it.  Killing off all
your cookies, or your favorites, can make life harder for a while.

I actually booted to another system on another disk, and IE worked fine.  I
booted from the first disk again, and it did not work.  That told me the
problem was caused by a bad file on my system.
