Lately when I shut down IE 5.2.3, the autofill profile is erased. Then the next time I use IE, it asks if I'd like to use the "forms autocomplete" function. You might try using the Disk Utility found in /Applications/Utilities to repair your permissions. You may have something preventing you from saving your settings.
