Of Late I have been unable to log into Yahoo mail when using Internet
Explorer (which is the only browser on the machines at work).  Does
anyone have any ideas why this started happening and how to work around
it?

What happens when you try? Please be specific.

I sometimes find that login problems can be solved by switching to secure
login. Not sure why, but it has been known to help.

What version of Internet Explorer are you using? What version of the Mac OS?

I just got done with a chat room help with sbc, I have Internet Explorer
5.1, and Mac OS 9.1. He suggested uploading free, more updated version of
explorer - i'm having trouble just getting to my home page. but... can i use
6.0 that's available on microsoft's site on my system?

No, the latest version of Internet Explorer for Mac is 5.1.

There does indeed seem to be a compatibility issue with Yahoo! mail and IE
5.1...after login the page never loads. You could always try a version of
Netscape, but I don't know if that will work either.

You should be aware that Mac OS 9 is now quite old, and an ever-increasing
number of web sites will begin to malfunction with older web browsers.

Just to add to this discussion... I've had several users at work report
the same thing. (I don't care to support accessing personal webmail for
folks at work but I do look into things in case this indicates a larger
problem.) My guess is that Yahoo must have updated their code recently
and this update breaks IE 5.1.

Since IE for Mac is no longer supported and it's no longer keeping up
with technology, we can probably expect future updates to sites to be
more and more incompatible.
