IE 5.2.3 Default Home Page, Multiple Users from Template

Heyas,

I'm somewhat stuck and not sure what to do.  I am setting up a lab
device and I have created a prototype account that I set up the way I
want Students to see it.  One of the things I do is set the browser to
load the college's website on start-up, both in Safari and Internet
Explorer.  The account itself retains the settings no problem - it's
not until I try to copy various .pref files to the User Template that I
run into problems.  (The reason for doing this is that I set the
machine to use active directory authentication, a user logs in and gets
a home dir created from the user template and away they go.  When they
log out, a script nukes that home dir)

So with everything copied, everything seems to work OK - except it's
not retaining what I want the default home page to be.  It keeps the
added Favorites in the favorites bar, so something is copyed over and
working fine - just not the default web page.  The default web page
also works fine under safari.

I'm currently using 10.3.8 as the OS with IE 5.2.3

Any ideas on what I may be missing, or a way to resolve this issue?  Is
there an .rc file or something I can modify for IE to make the default
webpage something other than msn.com?

thank you in advance,

John
