Hello All-
I recently installed IE 5.2.3 on a "clean" Mac OS X computer, but the
fonts that IE normally installs did not. Where do I get these
fonts/why did IE not install them per usual?
For example, in the past IE installed the font "Comic Sans MS" and used
it as IE's "Fantasy" font (see IE Preferences->Language/Fonts).
However, when I installed IE 5.2.3 on a Mac with just the fonts that
install from Apple (with Mac OS X system disks; located in
/System/Library/Fonts and /Library/Fonts), the IE installer did not
install "Comic Sans MS" or a number of other IE fonts (e.g., "Ariel",
"Brush Script MT", "Courier New", etc.). Again, where do I get these
fonts, what is the complete list of fonts that IE normally
installs/requires?
Alternatively, which fonts supplied by Apple in the standard Mac OS X
install should be used for the fonts that IE asks the user to specify?
IE asks the user to specify fonts for:
"Proportional (default)"
"Monospace"
"Sans-serif"
"Cursive"
"Serif"
"Fantasy"
Which Apple fonts should be used for these?
Any help greatly appreceated.

Found the answers to (most of) my own questions:
Instead of installing IE 5.2.3 from the .dmg file downloaded from
Microsoft/Mactopia, install IE 5.2.3 off the Mac OS X 10.3 Panther
CD-ROM installation disks. Open the "Additional Applications" package
found on Install Disk 2 of the Mac OS X 10.3 Panther installation
CD-ROMs. IE 5.2.3 is one of several applications that can be installed
from this installer package.
There are 12 fonts that IE installs when installing off the Mac OS X
CD-ROMs (vs. 0 fonts when installing off the .dmg file downloaded from
Microsoft):
Arial
Arial Black
Arial Narrow
Arial Rounded Bold
Brush Script
Comic Sans MS
Courier New
Georgia
Times New Roman
Trebuchet MS
Verdana
Webdings
The 12 fonts above are installed in /Library/Fonts
The default fonts in IE->Preferences->Language/Fonts are:
Proportional (default): Times New Roman
Monospace: Courier New
Sans-serif: Arial
Cursive: Brush Script MT
Serif: Times New Roman
Fantasy: Comic Sans MS
Size: 16
Resolution: 96dpi
Hope the above information is helpful to others.

You confuse "typeface" with "font"; for example:
The typeface Arial consists of four fonts.
The typeface Arial Black is a single font.
