Could anyone let me know how to transfer the files I have in my Scrapbook
from my 5.1.7 version of Internet Explorer (used in OS 9.2) to my 5.2.3
version of Internet Explorer (used in OS 10.1.5)? I have tried copying or
duplicating the files from their respective folders, but they don't seem to
show up when I open Internet Explorer 5.2.3.
In detail: I booted into OS 10.1.5 (I have both OSs on my iMac G3). I then
went to the Internet Scrapbook folder located in the Explorer folder in the
Preferences folder of the System Folder folder (ie Hard Disc:System
Folder:Preferences:Exploere:Internet Scrapbook) and dragged a file into the
equivalent place for Internet Explorer 5.2.3 which is Hard
Disc:Users:myname:Library:Preferences:Explorer:Internet Scrapbook. But when
I started up Internet Explorer 5.2.3 and went to the Scrapbook toolbar,
there was no sign of the file. Restarting didn't seem to make any
difference.
I seem to recall being able to transfer some files the other way - from
5.2.3 to 5.1.7 with them showing up. I would very much appreciate some help
in this matter as I am considering moving to OS 10 and would prefer not to
have to boot into Classic/OS 9 whenever I wish to access those files. They
are mostly text files and number around 3,000.

Ben, try this: (looks similar to your steps). I have access to OS9.2.2
and OSX 10.3.8 on same hdrive, which means I can access the hdrive from
both systems. With OSX running, quit IntExp. (1) Hdrive > OS9
SystemFolder > Prefs > Explorer. (2) Select Scrapbook file. Save a copy
by OPT-Click and dragging to Desktop. (3) Hdrive OSX > Users > Home >
Library > Prefs > Explorer > Internet Scrapbook Folder. (4) Drag
Internet Scrapbook file out to Desktop and replace with OS9 Scrapbook
file. No need to restart. I used this procedure to transfer OS9 (IntExp
5.1) Favorites and History trail into OSX IE 5.2.3. Worked perfectly.
Sometimes dumping a software's Prefs and restarting that software
can clear things. Also possible you may need to reinstall IE 5.2.3. If
your IE 5.3.2 is downloaded, they can sometimes corrupt in the process.
Another variant is your version of OSX. Could be a bug there. You
may want to upgrade to 10.3.8 (latest). Check apple.com > Support
(and/or) Downloads
