IE 5.1.7 wont launch

I have downloaded Internet Explorer 5.1.7 and met all the requirements but
when I click on the icon to launc it opens the IE Box and starts to launch
but then shuts down. Any help would be appreciated. I am running OS 8.6

Quit Internet Explorer, then locate the Internet Explorer application icon.
Select it, then go to File > Get Info > Memory. Set the Preferred size to a
higher number like 25000K, then close the window.

Drag Macintosh HD/System Folder/Preferences/Internet Preferences to the
Desktop. Re-launch Internet Explorer and see if it crashes. If it still
does, move the Internet Preferences files back. If it does not, you can
trash the Internet Preferences files.
