I have not used OS X since I switched to cable in February. Now that
I go to use it I find that IE is missing. I do not remember what
version it was (my iMac 700 is three years old). What version should
I now install?
As I have no browser in OS X, how should I obtain the IE? Can I
download it in OS 9 and somehow transfer it to OS X? Or would I have
to get a CD-ROM and install it that way?
I have an iMac 700 using OS 9.2.2 and OS 10.1 (IE 5.1.6 in OS 9).

It should be on your OS X install CD, since it used to be the default
browser for OS X. You can also use your OS 9 browser to download it
from:

e/InternetExplorer523.dmg>
You didn't specify which version of OS X 10.1 you're running (10.1.2,
10.1.5, etc.). This version of IE requires OS X 10.1.5. Since IE for
the Mac is no longer being developed by Microsoft, you might consider
another browser, such as Netscape (the OS X version is compatible with
10.1 and higher).
