"the specified server could not be found"

Error message while try to launch any website from
internet explorer. "the specified server could not be
found"

I have check with my internet service provider.  My modem
seems to be working fine.  However, I could not connect to
ANY website from internet explorer and it keeps give me
the error message " the specified server could not be
found".  I haven't change any network or internet setting
on my computer.  could someone please help?

I am using Mac OSX 10.1
Internet explorer 5.1

I suspect its OS10. I have had the same in Safari browser

Almost the same problem, for some odd reason (provider does not have an
answer) i get no dns, entered dns manually ... nothing..

I get the same type of error when my combo "router & DSL modem" gets "full"
and stops responding quickly (or at all) to DNS requests (which all get run
through my router).  I reset it once a month to prevent the problem.
Sometimes the power company resets it for me.  No reset switch, must unplug
the power cord to "power cycle" the box.

If your Name Server Address (aka DNS) is not the same as your Router
Address, then this is not the problem you are seeing.  Look in your TCP/IP
Control Panel to check on that...
