IE 4.5 error on iMac OS 9

Every time I attempt to use IE the following error message
appears:
The attempt to load
'https://reg1.apple.com:4431cgi-bin/webobjects/A XMLS'
failed.
I think this problem started to happen when I was given
advice from AOL. When I would view certain websites my
computer would freeze, or web pages would load incomplete
if at all. AOL gave me a list of things to do, since then
I've still got the same problems and IE is messed up!
What do I do?
I was going to attempt to download IE 5 but I wasn't sure
if I needed to trash 4.5 first or if I could just download
it straight away, providing the actual download web page
for IE 5 would load, and I could access it to download IE 5
in the first place.

Please advise

PS IE 4.5 wasn't purchased seperately, it is one of the

You can have both versions installed, although I can't think of any
advantages the old version has.
If you are still having trouble try deleting the contents of System
Folder:Preferences:Explorer folder. You might want to hang on to the
Favorites.html file.
