IE 5 homepage & browser color problem

IE 5 for mac OS X always reverts to Browser Color: Bondi and
Homepage: apple.com regardless of what settings are made in
preferences (default homepage is MSN). I want to set it to Google
Advanced search. Really annoying - I'm using Safari now, but would
like the option to use IE. Have tried removing from applications &
installing new download. Tried fsck on start-up, also run Disk Utility
etc.

Anybody had this problem or know how to fix it?

See this FAQ on Richard Grieve's site:

Try the workaround stated at the beginning.
