All of the sudden, I can't open Explorer -- a message comes on that
says "Explorer has unexpectedly quit" and that no other applications
are affected. This has been happening for a couple of days and I've
reinstalled it to no avail. Any ideas out there?

I'm using OS 10.2 and it only happens with Explorer for Mac (version 5)...

Hi!!
1.Trash "com.microsoft.explorer.plist" found in Hard Drive > User > Home
User > Library > Preferences
2.Trash Download Cache found in Hard Drive > User > Home User > Library >
Preferences > Explorer > Download Cache

Let me know if it resolves the problem

I hope IE version is 5.2.3?
Step 1
1. Move Home> Library> Preferences> Explorer> favorites.html to the desktop.
2. Delete Home> Library> Preferences> Explorer
3. Empty trash
4. Launch IE
   If it works or not
5. Move favorites.html to Home> Library> Preferences> Explorer

Drag Macintosh HD/Users/<Your
User>/Library/Preferences/com.apple.internetconfig.plist to the Desktop.
Re-launch Internet Explorer and see if it crashes.  If it still does, move
the Internet Preferences files back.  If it does not, you can trash the
Internet Preferences files.

Run Disk First Aid.  Instructions on how to run it in OS X are located on
the Apple Knowledge Base.
<http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214>

Try repairing permissions.
For OS 10.2/10.3:
Go to Macintosh HD/Applications/Utilities.  Open up Disk Utility.  Select
your hard disk, then click the First Aid tab.   Click the button to "Repair
Disk Permissions".

For OS 10.1.5:
Download the Repair Privileges utility, free from Apple, and run it:

In case you're using OS9.x:
Go to your pref. folder (inside your system folder), open the explorer
folder there and drag your favorites onto your desktop. Then delete that
explorer folder and also the Explorer Control folder in the prefs folder.
When you relaunch IE, it should work again as advertised and you'll notice
that the explorer folder has been recreated within the prefs folder. You can
quit IE and drag your favorites file back into the explorer folder and
you're all set.
