is there a Usenet group for iPod discussions?  Lost mine and am
considering its replacement.
Thanks for a proper pointer.

Never mind -- I found some review sites -- should've thought of a simple
search first.

Not that I know of.  This surely gets as close as one can get.  If
anyone complains, ignore them.

That stinks.  I'm sorry.   :(

Wasn't it you, just the other day, that mentioned your 5th generation
iPod?

> and am considering its replacement.

I bought my 80 GB, 5.5g iPod 37 days before the new/current line-up was
released.  (Timing is everything. <sigh>)

As far as the hard-disk drive-equipped models go, the capacity of the
disk is almost a non-issue anymore.  I bought the "biggest" model for
its increased battery capacity.  Now that the choice is between an 80 GB
or 160 GB, the battery capacity is probably the only real consideration
for many.

I sure like the form factor of the Nano, though.  Now that they can do
videos, they would make a great iPod for those that don't have to take
ALL their stuff with them.

I was disappointed to read (MacWorld?) that the iPod Touch has lower
resolution than the iPhone.  I think that, if I were in the market for
the Touch, I would wait for the next, upgraded version.

Unless you truly NEED the added disk or battery capacity, I suggest the
80 GB Classic.

Please let us know what you do.  Good luck!

Thank you.  Due to all the off topic crap on rec.food.cooking I am
sensitive to the propriety of posting to the correct group and do my
best to not offend.

I believe I left it on a NWA plane.  Phooey.  I've called and haven't
heard anything.  Highly unlikely that I will hear.   It would be a
murrcle if I did.    I picked up my new iPod Touch yesterday.  :-0)

I don't think so.

I do my large-money purchases of Apple stuff at FirstTech here in
Minneapolis, for years the premier Mac dealer in town.  The Apple store
at the Mall of America put a big hurt on their business, I think.  I do
other stuff through the MoA store, but like the folks at FirstTech a
lot.  I've only ever had excellent customer service there -- for the
last 16 years, dealing with the same sales guy.  Now he's doing
something else for them and has handed me off to a youngster.  Gotta
break him in; he received his first jar of jam and batch of brownies
from me today when I returned the xtrememac case I bought yesterday for
my Touch. (Man, was THAT a frustrating experience, trying to get the
iPod into the case.  Holy crap!)   He fixed me up and I left happy.

What I left behind was a 30GB video iPod bought two years ago.  i
laughed when I saw the 80GB and 160GB units.  JAYzuzz!  My iBook G4 has
a 60GB hard drive.

True, and it's sweet, but I have to maintain my reputation with my son
for being a cool old lady. 8-0)     He and I are the Mac loyalists en
Casa Schaller.   He has a t-shirt that says, "I had an iPod before you
knew what one was."  True, too.  Too bad he didn't buy any Apple stock a
couple years ago.

I listen to my husband curse his Windows apps every day.  I wish I knew
if it was Operator Error.  On second thought, I think I'm glad I don't
get involved with his stuff.

Too late for me.

I don't.  The Cool Factor grabbed me by the throat until I said Uncle.

I believe I have done that above.
Thanks for your kindness, Jim.
