I have an iBook G4, which I use sometimes in an auditorium which has a fancy
projector, inputs for the laptop, connections to the internet etc. I'm not
sure if I can connect to their speaker system. I know I can power regular
speakers from my laptop through the audio out, but what do I need to ask
about connecting to their inputs? Impedance? What are good  or bad numbers?

okay, I'm not super sure on this, but I think you'll probably find a
load of xlr connectors...I played in auditorium with my standup bass,
fitted with a pickup, with a 1/4 inch output..I think what you'll need
is a D-I box. It takes regular stuff, like the output from your ibook
G4, and gets it working with the auditoriums' sound system (something
about High Z and Low Z)

anyways, it worked for me

hope it works for you

I'm quite super sure that your news client, MT-NW 3.4, defaults to
quoting the entire previous post in your reply, so it's beyond me why
you're deleting it.

Also tried OnSync. No joy.
