I have a MacBook Pro which is currently running Leopard. The computer is
configured with a single administrator account and several user accounts. I
normally run from one particular user account.
The oddity is that the keyboard backlighting works on all of the accounts
with the exception of that one user account which I normally run from.
I have repeatedly checked and the Keyboard and Energy Saver System
Preferences are identical for all of the accounts.
I can switch from my normally active user account to any of the other
accounts and immediately the keyboard backlighting will go on. When I switch
back to the "normal" account the backlighting goes almost off, there being an
almost imperceptible amount of backlighting on.
Suggestions, enlightenment, and such will be greatly appreciated.

Roger,
I guess I'm now eligible for the stupidity award as I didn't know about F8,
F9 and F10! Shame on me!
Many thanks. These are the times when usenet is great.

Nah, you do not qualify for any awards. It took me a few weeks to
*discover* that on my MBP.

Sorry if this shows up twice but it did not show up in my news server.
You do know that you control the brightness (and on and off) with the
F8, F9, and F10 keys - right?
