Hello,
I just got my g5 back from the repair shop with 2gb new RAM installed.
They told me that they checked the DIMMs, and my computer and found
nothing wrong. When I turn the machine on, I get one crash after
another.
I know that if I take out the new RAM, my computer will run as it
should, but before I do, I thought I would try to find the reason, why
my computer won't accept more memory capacity.
When I start with cmd-alt-o-f, I get the grey screen with a running list
of *Invalid memory access* messages.
I can do a safe start, after which I have run rember a few times.  My
memory fails most of those tests.
The crash screen ends with *Panic.  We are hanging . . .*
I would appreciate any words of wisdom.

Greetings,
Gregory Wiest

It's bad RAM.  RAM timings and sensitivity are such that RAM will work
fine in one model of PC, and not in another.  If your G5 demonstrably
errors out with this RAM installed, then it's pretty clear cut.  If
they won't swap it out, then get a refund and buy your own from
www.crucial.com.

I don't care what they told you about having "checked" the DIMMs, but
the ultimate test is whether your computer runs properly with them
installed, and you've determined yourself that you have bad RAM.  You
need to get it replaced.
