I just installed a pioneer DVR-112DSV IDE DVD burner on my mac -- I
replaced the old one which would cut deep grooves into any cd or dvd
foolish enough to venture inside...

The problem is that when you hit eject the tray can't come all the way
out .. it's as if it's slightly too high so it bumps the corner
(inside the machine) and is thus unusable.

If anyone knows about this please speak up ...

There's usually a small plastic face plate on the front of the tray.
You have to take that off for some models and the Quicksilver should be
one of them.

Known problem. I believe the general solution is to modify the Pioneer
drive by removing the front part of the tray, but I haven't gone looking
for instructions on how to do this. It might be as simple as unclipping
some plastic clips, or you might need to unscrew something.

I got a similar mechanism (111) for use with my QuickSilver but I
installed it in an external case so I could move it between computers,
rather than replacing the older internal Pioneer drive. The external
case had plenty of room for the tray.

I had the same problem... Swapped the face plates from my original drive
and glued it on the newer DVD recorder... That worked... drove me
nuts... I had to do that on a Mirror Doors as well as my Digital Audio.
I tried to use the drive without a face plate and had problems then...
Be careful not to cut cables when installing the drive....
