Just a heads up for anyone contemplating doing their own MBP hard
drive upgrade. If you are following any of the helpful DIY guides on
the web with pictures etc then note that if you have a new-ish model
MBP (I bought mine in Feb 2007) then the internaals have changed a
little in the area of the hard disk itself. The Bluetooh module seems
to have moved and most importantly there is a metal bracket and 2
screws that you need to remove before the old drive will come out.
Note also that there seems to be a lot more use of glue on cables etc
than on earlier models - you'll need to be very careful when
separating the ribbon cable from the drive (I used a piece of card).
Also don't be tempted to try and do the upgrade without a T6
screwdriver - I tried ths because the first two T6 screws on the case
were fairly loose and came out with a small Philips screwdrtiver.
However there are 4 T6 screws on the drive itself and these are tight.

I have just switched my hard drive because it sounded like it was
about to fail.
for some reason every now and again i get a "bong" sound from the
speaker, dont have a clue what it is.
i attatched the new HD to an icybox and used cccloner to transfer
everything across before i switched the drives.

just wondering if anyone knows what the sound is. :)

thanks.
