I have an external Fantom Firewire CD-RW case. Model TFCD52FW. The
ventilating fan sounds loud and rough. I think it needs to be lubed or
replaced. How do I open the case? I removed 8 screws and got the drive
loose, but not able to remove it. How do I remove the entire case? I've
opened other cases but this is a puzzler.

Thank you, Dan

I was able to open a 5 yr old Fantom case by carefully prying off the
dark grey plastic strips that run along the sides.

I found that my fan was clogged with dust. After some air blowing and a
bit of WD 40 and some hand turning the fan began to run again

Thank you! Got it apart as you said, hit it with WD40, and it runs nice
and quiet. Now I have to run out on the 'Net and get Patchburn. :-)
