G4 Clock Resetting Problem

I have a G4 1GHz machine. When I turn it off and then back on, it will
not reboot. I must open the case and push the small reset button next to
the clock battery. Also, the clock looses its settings.

I have replaced the clock battery and zapped the PRAM. This did not fix
the problem.

What else could be wrong? Can I fix it myself?

TIA

I have a neighours Imac G3 Bondi Blue with the same symptoms. I have
regrettably come to the conclusion that it _may_ be the PSU (power supply
unit)

I have a G4 and would imagine that if it is the power supply you should be
able to replace it depending on cost/ value ratio.

Thanks. I'll check out this option. Certainly, the cheapest option is to
stop turning off the computer and/or just to live with the need to reset
when I do.

Any other thoughts along this line would be appreciated.

Have you replaced the PRAM battery. Sorry I missed the clock problem but the
PRAM battery losing its charge is usually one sign of the clock going back to
1956(?)
