Fan noise reduction

I have a 20" G5 iMac and, after a year and several months, the fan
seemed to running a lot more than at first. I ran my finger along the
lower edge of the display/computer and sure enough it was coated with
dust. Not visible, but blocking air flow. Since I did this, the fan use
has diminished considerably.

There are some other posts here about that, but none iMac specific (at
least that I could see) and I figured it didn't hurt to have one more
for people to find when they do a search. It sure baffled me for a
while!

Good advice.

About every 6 months I  use about 1/3 of a can of compressed air and
blow out the fans on the G5 dual. Especially after the spring
pollination when all the plants and flowers spawn.
