Make sure you clean the intakes for the fans - that can cause airflow
problems. Just open the machine and blow compressed air back through
the vents (so the dust goes *out*). If that doesn't do it, then you
can try something that works for me. I discovered this by trial and
error, but it works every time:
Reset the NVRAM. Do this by booting with the cmd-opt-o-f (open firmware boot)
keys depressed. When you get the Open Firmware prompt, type;
reset nvram
reset all
The system will reboot. Hold down cmd-opt-S to go into single user mode.
When you get the single user prompt, type:
shutdown -h now
This powers off the machine. Turn the power back on and you should be
set.
