Hello All,

It'd be great if someone recommend a Webcam for OSX 10.3. I'd like to
explore options less expensive than iSight.

Best,

I agree.  I think Apple might be getting out of the cam business
anyway.  Including built-in cams on iMac and Macbook, which are USB
driven.  $149 is too much to spend.

I did see a Logitech cam at Circuit City, it was for XP or Mac.

You can use a firewire Digital Video camera (just take the
recording media out of the camera, as generally they will shut
themselves off automatically if the media is still in the camera).

iChatUSBCam can enable the use of USB as well as firewire cams
that iChat does not normally support.  They have a demo mode so
you can test your webcam.  Check their web compatibility lists to
make sure the webcam you want will work with iChat.

IOXperts has drivers for alternative webcam devices.  Check their
compatibility lists to make sure it works with iChat.

I have an iMac G5 prior to the iSight cam built in and a girlfriend in a
foreign country who uses a cybercafe with these little golf ball like
cams on top of the monitor.  Our app of choice is Yahoo Messenger.  I
bought a Macally Icecam.  It cost $20 something and worked immediately
with Yahoo.  The quality of the picture wasn't great, but good enough
for our needs.
