I have a Canon i960 inkjet and an HP LaserJet 2420. Neither one has
built-in duplexing, so when I want to print back-to-back, I print all
the odd pages and then the even ones. The problem: Even though I
DEselect *collate* and "reverse* in the print dialog box, both printers
still print the second sides in reverse order, so page 2 prints on the
back of the last page of the document instead of the first page. What am
I doing wrong?

(I'm the OP.) I figured out how to manual duplex with the LaserJet by
looking in the huge electronic manual: Choose pages you want to print,
then choose "Finishing" and select Manual Duplex, then Print. Next, the
printer prompts you to reinsert the paper (print side up, feed top in
first), then you press the checkmark on top of the printer. I'll
definitely do it that way from now on, but it seems that I should have
been able to print all the odd pages, then put the paper back in the
tray and expect them to print in "normal" order if I deselect collate
and reverse order. I'm still working on how to get the i960 to print the
second side in the correct order. I have to send each page separately;
otherwise it'll print in the wrong order. (It doesn't have the manual
duplexing prompt feature that the LJ has. If anyone has any tips, please
let me know. Thanks!
