Hi,
I have a AGP G4 powermac, 533mHz, running OS 9.1. And when I go into
the sound control panel, I have no sound input options apart from CD.
The "onboard" sound doesn't show up.
I have tried....
* installing a PCI SOund card from a G3 (working fine) and I get
output, but no input. It is an Audiomedia 3 card
* zapping PRAM
* fresh install of OS. (It was on 9.2.1 and it didnt work on that
either)
* disabling ALL non essential extensions and control panels.
With out the PCI sound card there are no input options in the sound
control panel except CD. With the sound card its the same.
Regarding extension, they are update to date and working fine As I have
the sound card listed in out put (as well as the built in). IN
FACT....the manufacturers program (Protools 4) will actually record
audio. So i actually am getting an input! (- so I can actually record,
but ONLY with this program). Weird huh.
It seems like something is disabling sound inputs in general.
You ideas and advice would be greatly appreciated.

You probably have solved this by now,,, I have the same computer. There
is no mic input on this computer. The Digital Audio. The solution is to
connect an ADS box to the computer and you will have analog sound in
capabilities. You can connect the ADS to a boom box that has a mic input
on it. You can also connect a stereo to the ADS box to digitize tapes
and vinal from a record player...
