yes - but I'm not telling.
:-)
Sorry, but Usenet is not the best place to demand that folks help you or
answer your questions.
Anyway, the first thing you can do to narrow it down is to count the
number of "contacts" or pins on the dimm.
Beyond that, the only thing I know to do is not to search on the model
number of the DIM but to find the number on the chips themselves that
are soldered to the DIMM. There was a Netherlands based site that would
use these codes to show manufacturer, speed, size etc. I have not
accessed that site for over two years so do not know if it is kept up to
date with current DIMMs.
I also can't think of the actual site name. Maybe someone else can.
It is a shame you don't have a working browser. When I Google "ram
identification" I get a whole set of suggested pages right at the top
that look like that could also answer your question.

All you can say for sure is that no one who read your post knows it just
from the serial number, and since that's all anyone has to go by...
Getting back to your original post, though, it doesn't make any sense
that MacZone would send you the wrong kind and refuse to exchange it. A
client of mine recently got the wrong type of DIMM from MacMall, and
they overnighted the right kind to her, even though her original order
was shipped ground service. Granted, you're talking about a different
vendor, but this doesn't sound right. Is there, perhaps, more to the
story?

Thanks for your suggestions. And sorry if I seemed demanding; I
certainly didn't mean to.
Anyway, what I ended up doing was, I contacted the manufacturer of the
memory, explained my situation, and asked if they could identify what
kind of RAM this was. They said to just send them the dimm and they
would send me a replacement. Which they did, no charge. Btw, the
manufacturer was Edge Tech Corp.
So to sum up:
MacZone bad.
Edge Tech Corp good.
