Is there a problem with just disabling the interface?

"Congurutulation!!!" - The subject line on some spam I received last night.
I have no idea what it means, but it's such a cool "word" (by which I mean
pronouncable sequence of letters) regardless.

I'm guessing he's thinking of using it somewhere else.

Apple is abandoning discrete cards as the method of providing wireless
connectivity in new Macs. The AirPort hardware is built in, difficult to
remove, and not necessarily re-usable in other models.

The new AirPort card is not difficult to remove. It's a separate, small,
slotted card. Toughest thing to do would be to remove the antennae,
because the connectors are small and easily bent. That said, it can't be
used in older Macs that use the first or second generation AirPort cards
as it is a totally different form factor. Also, if you remove the card
from the Intel iMac, you bust through RF shielding tape. Now your iMac
may no longer conform to FCC radio emissions regulations (although I
suppose nobody really gives a hoot).
