The eternet port in my iMac seems to have gone bad. Can anyone suggest
a USB Network Adapter that they are sure will work on a Mac?

Hmm, I don't think Apple's OS supports networking protocls via USB.

We can repair by changing out the ship from a known good logic board...
but that would require sending your iMac in for service. Of course
while here, we can also upgrade your older iMac to PowerPC G4 in most
cases too.

http://www.xlr8yourmac.com has some reader feedback on 802.11-USB
adapters working with their Macs. It depends on driver availability.

I've did it recently. I added a D-Link USB wireless ethernet adapter to
my ancient 233 MHz iMac G3. This is the only network interface in use on
this machine. And I only paid $14 for it, on ebay.
