Check the logs. I bet the OS and/or the driver is issuing a pile of
errors prior to the failure.
A small check at the site you provided indicates this hardware is
expected to be used on WinTel hardware only. They claim it does not
drivers, but clearly indicate that they expect these to work on a Mac
only if it is a Mac keyboard <http://www.adesso.com/keyboard_faq.htm>.
You might want to verify this via Adesso Support. Since USB Overdrive
does not work, you may be out of luck.

Thanks, I will keep an eye out if it happens again.

I did purchase it knowing that only Windows had official support, but
the other Adesso model worked fine for over a year. The problem with
this keyboard is not constant; I've been using it for several hours
today without any trouble. I turned off USB Overdrive as the other
posted suggested and will see if that makes a difference.

Try disabling USB overdrive to see if it is this or the O/S that is
causing the problem.
Ben.
