What does that mean? How can you have a broadband connection with no
modem? To what do you connect a piece of equipment? Given that you
just misspoke, connect the WAN port of the AEBS to the "broadband
connection". The AEBS will perform DHCP and NAT routing functions and
is all you need to connect wirelessly.

If you didn't get a DSL modem or DSL router when you ordered your DSL
service then you'll need to buy one - the Airport Base Stations does not
have a DSL interface. You need a DSL modem with an Ethernet interface -
the ABS connects to the DSL modem via Ethernet.

thanks a lot. that's what i needed to know. Why don't they include a
DSL interface into the base station. Seems nuts to me for a company who
are usually so thorough!

because then they would also need to include a Cable Modem interface as
well. Besides, many Cable and DSL broadband providers actually provide
the modem, so what benefit is it to Apple. I have Verizon DSL, and they
gave me the modem as part of the package.

I got one as part of my package too but it isn't mac friendly. It's an
Alcatel frog which causes kernel panics on a regular basis.
