I have been having constant problems with the D-Link DBT-120 Bluetooth
adapter that Apple recommends for use with the iMac G5 (for those of us
that didn't get the built-in Bluetooth). After installing the firmware
update provided by Apple for the DBT-120 I have the same problems. I
contacted D-Link and was told that applying the firmware update from
Apple voids the warranty so they will not replace it! How convenient
:-( I also have a Belkin adapter that works flawlessly with the
exception that it will not let a Bluetooth device (e.g. the keyboard)
wake the computer from sleep. Apparently the D-Link is the only adapter
that Apple supports this feature on. The D-Link causes kernel panics
after the computer goes to sleep and intermittently loses connection
with the keyboard when it is awake. If I plug the D-Link into my
powered USB hub it works fine for about 20 minutes, then the LED on
that port of the hub starts blinking and all communication is lost. The
iMac doesn't even recognize that Bluetooth is available. I'm guessing
that the adapter is drawing too much current and overloading the port.
Unfortunately I have no recourse at this point. Fortunately it only
cost me $20 after rebates (assuming I actually get the rebates). So be
forewarned that if you have updated your DBT-120 firmware you no longer
have a warranty on your adapter. Has anyone been using this adapter
sucessfully?

I use the D-Link 120 regularly with my Pismo to connect with my Nokia
6310i cell phone. I've updated the firmware each time that Apple
provided a new version. No problems ever.
My desktop G-5 has an all Apple BlueTooth setup for keyboard and mouse.
Early on, there were difficulties in waking the G5 from sleep. I simply
stopped using sleep for the G-5, but continue for the Cinema display.
