So, I really like Pages, and I own it, but I also have an iBook. Is there
any way to move the installer from a PowerBNook with a DVD to an iBook
with just a CD? Is there a free utility for making an ISO image that I
could move across a network and mount? Other ideas? How do I even access
the package file, it just shows up as a shortcut.

Yes, just burn a CD-R from the DVD. The whole installer
package is less than 700 MB, so it will fit onto a CD-R. I used
'Toast' to just copy the DVD onto a CD-R.

Also, if you happen to have a 1 GB jumpdrive, they will work,
too, and they are getting cheap. Fry's was selling a 1 GB Lexar
jumpdrive this weekend for $70.

Also, I suppose one could start-up the iBook in FireWire
'Target' mode [boot & hold down 'T' while connected to the
PowerBook via a FireWire connection] and have the DVD install to
the iBook via the FireWire.

Note on copying the DVD, if you just choose to drag files,
rather than the whole disk, most of the files are invisible; to
see what you are copying, turn on:

  "Show Hidden and Invisible Files"

in the Finder with 'TinkerTool.'
