Is there a way to turn off the built-in microphone on an iMac running OSX?
This is one of the white iMac G3's. Thanks!

I don't think you can actually turn it off, but you should be able to
turn the volume all the way down in the Input tab of the Sound
preference pane.

you could select an 0utside source like usb in the control panels and just not
hook up a USB mic, that would do it. or yes, you could turn the input control
slider all the way down as well.

Arre you afraid of what it hears you doing in the dark?;-)

In the sound preference pane switch the sound input to external.
