I'm looking for recommendation for a good wireless keyboard,
and mouse, for my new PowerMac G5. Apple's wireless mouse
is out, due to it's dated, single-button limitations. I've
looked at Kensington's offerings, but it seems to be lacking
in quality. Logitech has numerous offerings, and I like
their quality. What are you using, and how do you like it?
Thanks,

I have been a Kensington TurboMouse user for YEARS. After upgrading to a G4 a
little over a year ago, I bought the TurboMouse Pro WIRED trackball. I expect
the wireless version would be as good or better.
The TurboMouse (et al) has always received TOP honors and ratings. Their
cheaper pointing devices, however, are just that: Cheaper.

Thanks for your input Jim! I'll give Kensington another look.

The keyboard I use is the Apple Bluetooth, and it's wonderful. I use
the Logitech wireless/optical/rechargeable one and it's great (no
batteries to keep buying for it)

Is your Logitech mouse also Bluetooth, or does it use it's
own radio link?
Thanks,

Stupid newbie question...does my G5 Dual 2GHz have built-in
Bluetooth, or do I need to buy an add-on?
Thanks,

That depends, some models had an option for built-in bluetooth. If you
didn't get it, then yeah you need a USB adapter. There's one from
D-Link in the Apple store (though it might be cheaper elsewhere).

Thanks. My G5 did come with a Bluetooth antenna, but I
found out, I would still need a small, optional, Bluetooth
board, to go inside.

But I don't think it's sold separately as customer-installable part.

A Bluetooth adapter will appear in the list of USB devices in System
Profiler.

Watch out for a small lag/time delay in mouse response when you first
move it after it's been stationary for a while (as if it had gone to
sleep, and took a moment to wake up) -- bothers some of us, not others.
And while we're on this topic: I have Apple Wireless Keyboard (sits in
a kind of clear plastic tray) and Mouse. How long will a set of
standard batteries last if I leave these on 24/7 and use 'em maybe 5/7?
(i.e., 5 hrs/day, 7 days/week) Do they go to sleep when the Mac goes to
sleep? Why didn't Apple somehow put the keyboard switch on top of the
keyboard?

The keyboard/mouse go into a sort of low power sleep. There's no need to
switch off the keyboard - mine is still on the original batteries after
5 months (I can't say about the mouse as I don't use mine much as I use
a USB scroll mouse most of the time).
