I am considering a new iMac.  I have heard that problems with the
display is likely to be the major problem (assuming that the "cooling
system" works adequately).

Are potential problems with the display enough reason to opt for Apple
Care?

Since no one has a new iMac yet, how do you know there will be problems with
the display?

I usually say yes to manufacturer extended warraties for laptops and no for
desktops, because desktops I can usually repair myself.  But for an
all-in-one like the iMac, it's probably not a bad idea, especially if you
expect to keep it at least 3 years (some people upgrade often, some people
not so often).
