Pick a reliable vendor from among the deals currently available.

Good luck finding anything that small.

Standard output is like your butt. Everyone has one. When using a bathroom,
they all default to going into a toilet. However, a person can redirect his
"standard output" to somewhere else, if he so chooses. - Jeremy Nixon

I got a Seagate Barracuda for our iMac a few months ago, the original
was a Maxtor, which went belly-up. FWIW, I went for an 80GB unit as it
was only 5ukp more than a 40GB, and it was still less than 50ukp with
tax an postage.

My favorite search sites for this sort of thing are:
http://www.pricewatch.com/
http://froogle.google.com/
You can search for a dealer/price with these. But not everybody
listed is reputable, so afterwards, I look up the dealer here:
http://www.resellerratings.com/
and only buy from dealers that have good ratings.

I think think you can go very wrong with any of these. I think
Seagate has the best reputation right now. The last two drives I
bought were Maxtor (because they were the best price).

Your G3 should be able to use any drive up to 137G (the way HD makers
measure storage - 128G the way software measures it.)
You probably won't find people selling new drives smaller than 40G
these days. But that's not a problem, they're not really that
expensive.
FWIW, I've seen local stores selling 120G drives for under $100 (after
rebates) recently.

Well, I got a Hitatchi 40GB hdd for $57.00 at OWC, and installed it. The guy
there says Hitatchi was a better choice than some others. (or maybe they have a
higher markup/profit margin).
