iPod Flicker Screen Problem

Hello; I have a screen problem, and by reading other posts on
Apple/Support, this does not seem to be the "rainbow effect" problem.

When I unplugged my 20GB 3G iPod this morning (it was charging,
FireWire cable plugged into the AC wall charger), I noticed a "screen
flicker" problem that was not there before.

It looks like my screen is "refreshing" hundreds of times per minute,
making for a weird "flicker" effect... Very annoying.

I have noticed that I get a lot less play time now than last year, I
guess my battery is starting to be worn out, but could this be also
the source of my flicker problem? Should I send the iPod to Apple to
have its battery replaced? Or do I have two problems (battery +
screen)?

Any info / thoughts are welcome!

Does your screen flickering also with charger connected? If not - I
think that's a battery fault (voltage too low?).
